Becoming a member of Family Life

Interested in joining the FLCC Family?

When it comes to church, you get out of it what you put into it. You are always welcome to come and go as you please, but like any family, the people you are closest to are the ones who really know you and are planning on sticking around. So when it comes to membership, those are the two things we need to talk about.

  1. GET TO KNOW FAMILY LIFE: This involves understanding our church vision, our culture, and our goals for the future. It’s important as a community that we are all working with the same goals in mind. If you like where our church is headed, help us get there! And while we don’t require that everyone share the exact same theology (in fact we appreciate the diversity of thought), it is important for you to make sure that you have no major, fundamental disagreements with our understanding of Christianity.

  2. MAKE A COMMITMENT: Like we said, when it comes to church, you get out of it what you put into it. Our church members are not just spectators, they are people who are willing to step up and get involved. This includes things like volunteering, giving, and attending service frequently. Generally, it means being involved in the activities of the church. As a Fivefold Church, we don’t aim to have 1 pastor doing all the work. Our goal is that we share ownership with as many as we can, equipping and encouraging this body of believers to share in the works of the ministry.

If that sounds good to you, then let’s get started! These videos below will help you gain an understanding of what our church is here to do. If you share our passion for helping others fulfill their highest calling in Christ by improving their relationship the God, themselves, and others, then this is the place for you!

Our Church Vision Explained

Below are 4 different videos that unpack the beliefs, goals, and values of each of these 3 spheres of our vision. Each video consists of one of our current church leaders interviewing one of 4 foundational voices that have helped shape Family Life over the years. These videos capture the heartbeat behind our ministry here at Family Life. Enjoy!

THE FIVEFOLD MINISTRY

This video is an explanation of what we mean when we talk about the “Fivefold Ministry.” This comes out of Ephesians 4:11-16 and it explains a mode of operating as a church that results in maturity, safety, and witnessing the fullness of Christ, among other things. If we are to attain this fullness of Christ, we must put in place the necessary components described just before; the Apostle, Prophet, Teacher, Pastor, and Evangelist.

If you would like to learn more about the Fivefold Ministry and how you fit into it, click the button below the video.

(**This is encouraged by not necessary for membership.)

THE FUTURE OF FAMILY LIFE

on October 17th of 2021, Danny Hochstatter presented an idea that we call “The Living Room,” which would not only be our future place of worship, but also a café-style gathering space that was open to our community all week long. Here people could grab a coffee, get some work done, host events, and help develop relationships in Carol Stream. In less than 1 year, we raised over half a million dollars toward this dream and by August 15th of 2022, we officially bought our new home! This building is under construction now and we will be there soon. Once we arrive, we will continue the work of the Gospel and the vision of our church as well as opening up significantly more opportunities to bless our community and develop and host additional ministries within the church.

And that’s it! Now that you have seen an overview of the kind of church that we are, the question is; Would you like to become a member of Family Life Christian Center? We would certainly love to have you! Our members are not just one more face in the crowd. They are people that we intentionally seek deep and sustained relationship with. They are people who are invited to participate in the works of the ministry. They are people who are challenged and called higher for the purpose of growth and promotion. They are people who are known and loved by all, like a good family should be.

If that sounds good to you, send us a message by clicking the button below and we will complete the membership process. Thanks for being a part of our church. We can’t wait to see what God has in store for us all!

Sincerely,

Danny Hochstatter
